ABOUT BOSPHORUS CRUISE:

Short Circle Bosphorus Cruise (Kısa Boğaz Turu)

First up is the brand new non-stop Short Circle Bosphorus tour. This one is great for people who are pressed for time but don’t want to miss a genuine Bosphorus experience. This tour is available every day in summer time (April 1st until October 31st). The cruise takes you fromEminönü to Istinye (well past the second bridge that is), and back. The ferry leaves the Eminönüdocks at 14:30, arrives at Ortaköy around 14:50 to pick up more people, and then continues its two hour non-stop tour. The price per person is 10 TL. For the latest updates, check the official timetable.

Full Bosphorus Cruise (Uzun Boğaz Turu)

The Full Bosphorus Tour offers a great Bosphorus experience and will take several hours in total. For a mere 25 TL this cruise will take you from Eminönü all the way to the Black Sea, and back. Each way takes about 90 minutes since the ferry makes 5 short stops to let people on and off. You must get off the ferry in Anadolu Kavağı, the last harbor before the Black Sea. This gives you the opportunity to grab a (late) lunch in one of the town’s fish restaurants located on the shore and/or visit the fortress.

The ferry does a few complete tours a day, so check the official schedule with the latest timetable. On board you can use digital guides explaining over 70 points of interest along the way, in 10 different languages (Turkish, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Persian, and Arabic). The price for a round trip is 25 TL.

ABOUT SULTANAHMET DISTRICT:

What to see?

Many of Istanbul’s historical gems, mostly consisting of Byzantine and Ottoman-built monuments are in Old City. Most are located a short walk away from, if not immediately on the edges of, Sultanahmet Square. Some other sights are dispersed throughout the peninsula.

The Museum Pass İstanbul is a good way to visit Chora Museum, Hagia Sophia Museum (25 TL), Topkapı Palace Museum (25 TL) and Harem Apartments (15 TL), İstanbul Archaeological Museums (10 TL), İstanbul Mosaic Museum (8 TL) and Museum of Turkish and İslamic Arts with one ticket and without having to queue. This ticket costs 85 TL and is valid for 72 hours, there are also discounts for other museums and shops. Available in several hotels or at the entrance to any of the above museums.

What to do?

Poke around forgotten corners just over this hauntingly beautiful inlet from the Bosphorus. You make some thrilling - and chilling - "finds" on cobbled streets as you trace its narrow alleyways and ancient squares. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate housing a column which is believed to have been used for the binding and flogging of criminals in Jerusalem is here. The magnificent Neo-Gothic, Neo Baroque -well literally hand made doll house -St.Stephens Church is located on the western shores. The cascading domes and four slender minarets of the Imperial Suleymaniye Mosque dominating the skyline. One of Istanbul’s surviving mediaeval synagogues...and trendiest houses in town that are now enjoying their second or even third type of use. Highlight is the famous Chora the Byzantine marvel of mosaics and frescoes.

Explore Istanbul by Free Walking and Bike tours. English-speaking Join our young volunteers - guides for a walk on the centuries old streets of the Old Town. They will tell you many tales about people and city and you will learn very important things of the history by very fun way. They like to have fun while doing so. Just sit on a bike and see Istanbul by the eyes of local. Our volunteers - guides are happy to show you the less discovered areas in Istanbul, where tourist usually never go.

Most of Istanbul's historical Turkish baths, known as hamam and are quite an inevitable part of any Istanbul experience, are located in Old City around Sultanahmet.
