Founded in 2010 by Preeti Fernandes, Something Sweet took life from an ongoing love affair between the owner and the art of baking cakes. When motherhood presented Preeti with the opportunity to trade in her job as a fashion designer for that of a stay at home mom with her newborn son, the choice was simple. Making full use of her excellent time management skills, Preeti baked and, much to the delight of her family and friends, treated them to fresh and one-of-a-kind cakes, cupcakes and cookies, all the while joking that one day she'd own her own cake shop.

For her son's first birthday in October of 2009, Preeti confectioned a very special cake for the occasion and soon after, as word spread of her talent, started selling her unique home made cakes. The idea of one day owning her own cake shop now became her goal.

After attending a cake decoration course at Tavola in Dubai to learn the basics of cake decoration, Preeti decided to try her hand in a more personal style and, as a result, her cake designs became more elaborate and refined.
