Sri Lanka, also called ‘The Pearl of the Orient’, is an island nation, part of the Indian Sub-continent. Surrounded by the Indian Ocean, Sri Lanka is a renowned tourist destination, home to as many as seven world heritage sites, and a beautiful landscape.
Nuwara Eliya
Nuwara Eliya is a city, in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. The city name meaning is "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is located at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for Tea production in Sri Lanka. The city is overlooked by Pidurutalagala, the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka.
Kandy
Kandy, known for its religious significance, is one of the most important places for Sri Lanka’a Buddhist community all around the world. Located in the Central Province, Kandy is another World Heritage site due to its scenic beauty. Esala Perahera is an annual grand procession running through the streets of the city and is a major tourist attraction.
Colombo
The capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, is a coastal city known for its pristine beaches and modern lifestyle. Colombo offers a host of tourist attractions including museums, water sports, the two world trade center towers, churches and festivals. The city is vibrant and bustling as it is a commercial powerhouse and the annual festival Vesak is held at a massive scale decorating the entire city with beautiful lanterns and lights.
